Cyclists with a sense of adventure are being urged to sign up for the south-west’s most scenic night time charity ride on Saturday 10 June, run this year for the benefit of St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth.
The Moonlit Cycle, organised by Independent financial advice company TFA, offers a 50km or 100km course along South East Cornwall’s iconic coast full of stunning vistas and challenging climbs along the dramatic coastline.
Anyone over the age of 16 with a bike, a set of lights and the adventurous spirit to head out into the unknown is welcome to sign up for the event, says long-time St Luke’s supporters TFA. Setting off and finishing at Torpoint Community College, the short route caters for cyclists of all abilities and bikes, with plenty of support around the course and a midway feed station at Seaton with hot food and drink. The longer course is for the more experienced cyclist, with a tough 1664m of hills ahead of them.
Now in its fourth year, the event has gone from strength to strength, raising more than £50,000 for St Luke’s.
Nicola Keen, Corporate Fundraiser for St Luke’s said, “We’re so grateful to the team at TFA for taking on the event for us again this year. We are always working to go as far as we can with the public’s donations so having someone agree to take the strain for our benefit is absolutely amazing – what heroes!”
Charlotte Malcom, Head of Marketing at TFA added, “We have enjoyed a long relationship with St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth and we were very pleased to be able to assist in the creation of the unique Moonlit Cycle event back in 2014. The work undertaken by St Luke’s is very important and fundraising is crucial to this. We’re very much looking forward to running the event the year and building on its success to date.”
Registration for the Moonlit Cycle 2017 opens on today with tickets costing £25 for adults and £20 for 16-17 year olds. Sign up before 14th February to receive the early bird rate of £20 for adults and £15 for 16-17 year olds. Entry includes complimentary water and refreshments along the way, a downloadable route map and access to a range of fundraising resources as well as a medal for all finishers. All money raised by participants will go to St Luke’s.
