At TFA Trusted Financial Advice, established in 1997, we are proud to provide independent financial and mortgage advice across the South West of England, with offices in Plymouth and Truro. Our Planning Process
Our structured financial planning process consists of six key stages: engagement, discovery, research and analysis, plan presentation, implementation, and ongoing service. We start with an introductory meeting—at our expense—to understand your unique needs. Only after establishing that we can be of service and ensuring you are satisfied with our costs and terms will we move forward. Once we reach an agreement, we will conduct a thorough information-gathering process to create a bespoke financial plan tailored specifically for you.
1. Engagement
We begin by understanding what matters most to you. In this initial meeting, we’ll discuss your financial goals, priorities, and any concerns you may have. This meeting is at our expense and can be held either in person or remotely. We’ll also invite you to our client portal where you can share information, manage documents and communicate with us securely.

2. Discovery
Once we have agreed to work together, we’ll agree and prioritise your financial goals. We will then gather details about your finances to build a detailed picture of your current circumstances. We’ll also assess your attitude, knowledge, and experience when it comes to investing.

3. Research & Analysis
With a clear understanding of your financial situation, we’ll review your current planning and consider how best to meet your specific financial goals. We will then produce a report for you that contains our recommendations

4. Plan Presentation
Here we present your plan and our recommendations, outlining clear steps to help you achieve your goals. We’ll talk through any questions you have so that you can move forward with confidence.

5. Implementation
Once you’re happy with the plan, we handle all the necessary steps to put it into action. You can relax knowing that we’ll take care of all the details.

6. Ongoing Service & Relationship
As your life and circumstances change, we’re here to help you adapt. We’ll conduct regular reviews to assess progress, make adjustments where needed, and discuss any changes in your life that may affect your financial situation. Whether it’s adjusting your investments, planning for new goals, or navigating market changes, our proactive approach ensures that your plan remains effective over time.

Our Service Offerings
We offer three core service offerings to cater to your diverse financial needs: Financial Planning for clients needing regular ongoing support; Our Wealth Management service is for those with complex financial situations that require more in depth support; and Specific Advice for individuals who require focused advice or products to deal with particular issues or needs in isolation and do not require ongoing service.
Wealth Management Service
Our wealth management service offering is most appropriate for clients who require a close working relationship in order to achieve their stated aims. This includes but is not limited to:
- Our initial meeting, the identification and agreement of your goals, the subsequent research, presentation and implementation of your Financial Plan.
- Six monthly reviews of your investment portfolio to ensure they achieve your objectives and are in line with your latest risk profile.
- Access to our Secure Client Portal where you can message and exchange documents with your adviser, access to fund and portfolio information including up to date valuations of your investments, have access to a secure document vault to store your financial documents in one place and through open banking you can collate information from bank accounts, credit cards giving you powerful insights into your spending and saving habits.
- Priority access to TFA advisers throughout the year
- Working with other professional advisers as required on your behalf
Specific Advice Service
Our Specific Advice Service is suited to clients requiring focused advice or products to deal with particular issues in isolation and who do not need ongoing advice. This includes but is not limited to:
- We commit to providing you with written information on any suitable products we have recommended to you, or those you have asked us for. Charges will always be notified up-front, and should these change these will again be notified to you in writing.
- We will hold and maintain your file contacting you as may be appropriate. Additional work will be charged as required and agreed.
- Access to our Secure Client Portal - PFP where you can message and exchange documents with your adviser, access to fund and portfolio information including up to date valuations of your investments, have access to a secure document vault to store your financial documents in one place and through open banking you can collate information from bank accounts, credit cards giving you powerful insights into your spending and saving habits.
Financial Planning Service
Our financial planning service is most appropriate for the majority of our clients who would like to receive regular advice and planning support to achieve their aims. This includes but is not limited to:
- Our initial meeting, the identification and agreement of your goals, the subsequent research, presentation and implementation of your Financial Plan.
- Annual reviews of your investment portfolio to ensure they achieve your objectives and are in line with your latest risk profile.
