Saltash Station Building Refurbishment Project
Please support this project to refurbish a derelict Station Building at Saltash, in Cornwall.
TFA adviser Andy Moir has nominated this project as it will provide important community facilities for all, and help rejuvenate a run-down area of the town.
The project is seeking £25,000 towards the project from the Aviva Community Fund. Total project costs are around £400,000 and they have already attracted significant grant funding from local authorities, businesses and Heritage organisations.
The goal is to complete this project by the end of 2018, but this won’t be possible without raising the vital funds.
Saltash Town Council has taken the bold action of purchasing the building and plans to refurbish the building to bring the station building back to life, benefiting rail passengers and the local community alike whilst returning the station building to one which is a fitting companion to Brunel’s bridge.
The vision is to provide a welcoming and safe space for rail users and visitors to Saltash. Once the project is complete, passengers will be able to use a warm dry waiting room rather than the cold and damp platform shelters. Ticketing, travel information and cafe facilities are all part of their plans, as well as essential toilets. They intend to provide community space for meetings and exhibitions as well.
